Visitors to Melbourne
Many visitors to Melbourne may not be familiar with how medical care works in Australia. I am a General Practitioner (GP) which is also known as a family physician or family doctor. Seeing a GP is usually your first step to access medical care here in Australia. We as GPs are trained to assess and treat many common medical conditions and refer patients to hospitals and other medical services for urgent and specialist treatment. I also provide preventive care and health education to patients.
I am also happy to see women for antenatal/pregnancy care if they need a review whilst visiting Melbourne.
Please note that if your issue is considered very urgent or life threatening then it is important that you go directly to the emergency department of the nearest hospital, or call "000" for an ambulance to attend you.
